The state exchequer has become richer by Rs. 6,904 crore due to the tenders that came in for licenses of liquor outlets.
According to Excise Commissioner Heeralal Samaria told newsmen, 6,505 tenders for the 6,596 liquor outlets were received so far, generating a sum of Rs. 6,904 crore, while the remaining 91 liquor outlets are expected to yield another Rs. 50 crore.
Samaria further said that when compared to the financial year 2008, this is an increase of 114% in the revenue generated.
Meanwhile, a resident of Nizamabad has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) before the Andhra Pradesh High Court, seeking implementation of total prohibition in the state.
