Liberate Dhoolpet From "Gudamba" Label: Raja Singh
Dhoolpet's notoriety for the sale of illicit liquor was affecting the lives of its young people, who were being denied jobs due to their addresses, he said.
BJP's Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh on Friday demanded that the State Government take some concrete steps to improve the image of the Dhoolpet area.
Raising the issue during the Zero Hour in the Telangana State Legislative Assembly, Raja Singh said sale of "Gudamba" (illicit liquor) was the primary source of income for several families in Dhoolpet. But with the changing times, the younger generation had migrated to other professions. However, Dhoolpet's notoriety for the sale of Gudamba was affecting the lives of these young people.
He said that many educated and talented youth from the area were being denied jobs due to their residential addresses.
He said that Dhoolpet had been blacklisted by many firms.
Raja Singh demanded that the government take measures to improve the image of Dhoolpet and allow the people to join the mainstream.
He said that the presence of the government in Dhoolpet was confined to the Excise and Prohibition Department, which conducted raids. The locals were being denied growth opportunities.
He said that Rs 5 crores sanctioned under Rajiv Yuva Shakti were not given to the local youth.
Information Technology Minister K Tarakarama Rao assured that the government would look into his demands. (INN)
