Leaders of the Left Parties and the Civil Liberties Committee on Thursday met in the CPI office Maqdoom Bhavan and decided to organize a "Chalo Assembly" on September 30 to register their protest against the recent encounter of Maoists near Medaram under the Tadvai mandal of the Warangal district.
Telangana State CPI secretary Chada Venkat Reddy, State CPI (M) secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, Telangana United Front president Vimalakka, CLC leader Prof Haragopal, Telangana Vedika president Cheruku Sudhakar and others were present in the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, the leaders all unanimously felt that the alleged encounter was stage-managed by the government, and condemned it.
Recalling that TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao had declared that his government would follow the Maoists' agenda, they said that the government had instead opened its account in fake encounters.
The leaders called upon democracy lovers to participate in the September 30 Chalo Assembly rally and make it a grand success.
