Harishwar Reddy, the Telugu Desam Party MLA from Parigi, on Tuesday rubbished media reports that party leaders are quitting the TDP because of its unclear stand on the separate Telangana statehood issue.
Talking to media persons at the Telugu Desam Legislature Party Office, the MLA denied the that the party's unclear stand on the Telangana issue was the reason for people quitting. He said that rumours that party legislators were eyeing the Telangana Rashtra Samithi because they were wary of inviting the backlash of Telanganaites are baseless and far from the truth.
The MLA's statement comes in the wake of senior party leader and Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy making his intentions to quit the party and join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi clear.
Pocharam Srinivas is reported to have alleged that no one can trust TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu since he had not made his stand clear on the Telangana statehood issue.
Harishwar Reddy said that the Telangana TDP Forum would mount pressure on Chandrababu Naidu to make his stand on Telangana clear.
