Land Purification Leading To Ghastly Acts: Congress
The murder of Tahsildar Vijaya Reddy was the result of the inordinate delay in solving the problems related to the pending passbooks of farmers kept in Part B, the party said.
Congress Legislature Party Leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday said that the land purification process was leading to extreme incidents in the State.
He said that several struggles were held related to land in the State earlier, with the armed peasant struggle being one of them - the same struggle had eventually led to India's freedom fight, he claimed. A similar struggle seemed to be starting off in Telangana again now due to the land purification drive of the TRS government, he claimed.
Referring to the killing of the Tahsildar of Abdullapurmet mandal Vijaya Reddy, he said that the murder of an officer of the Tahsildar rank right in her office had never taken place in the entire country so far, and was reflective of a deep discontentment. He said that the officials of the State government had kept 9 lakh passbooks of farmers in Part B, and that these cases were pending for two years now. He also said that most of the lands which were in dispute and kept in Part B of the revenue records belonged to the middle-class and the poor sections of society, and that most such disputed lands were inam lands, assigned lands, endowment lands and Sadabainama lands.
He said that the murder of the Tahsildar was the result of the inordinate delay in solving the problems related to the pending passbooks. He demanded that the State government order an enquiry by either a sitting judge or the CBI into the murder as several news reports were emanating that the ruling party leaders were also responsible for the death of the Tahsildar.
