Lakhs of devotees took a holy dip at Arjun ghat on the banks of river Pranahita to mark the Mukkoti Ekadasi and the last day of Pushkaram on Friday.
Thousands of devotees from Andhra Pradesh and the neighbouring states like Maharashtra, Orrisa, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka also drove to the ghat to take the holy dip in the river to mark the Mukkoti Ekadasi.
Traffic came to grinding halt as thousands of cars converged at the Arjun ghat. Police and district administration had a tough time trying to maintain order and ensuring that the traffic remained free from congestion and snarls.
The officials also made special arrangements for devotees at Tumdihetti and Vemanapalli Pushkar ghats for taking holy baths.
The Pranahita Pushkaram is held once in 12 years, and attracts thousands of devotees. The Pushkaram began on December 6th, the first day of Margashirsh month, and ended on December 17th, the Margashira Shukla Ekadasi day.
