Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, on Thursday, wrote an open letter slamming Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu for writing a letter to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh seeking an all-party meeting to resolve the Telangana issue.
Releasing the letter to the media, Lagadapati Rajagopal said, "The soul of TDP founder N T Rama Rao, who worked for the unity and integrity of all Telugu people, will not rest in peace after Naidu's letter favouring a division of the state."
He alleged that Naidu had written the letter in order to get political mileage on the Telangana statehood issue.
He also said that Naidu might have written the letter bowing to pressure mounted on him by a section of leaders in the party from the region, and to get approval for his padayatra on October 2.
Rajagopal asked Naidu to explain why he wrote the letter and what benefits he seeks through it.
He opined that Naidu does not know the pros and cons of the state being divided into three parts.
The Vijayawada MP said that the Seemandhra leaders would oppose Naidu's padayatra in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Recalling that the TDP had lost its deposits in the recent by-elections, he said that the TDP would be completely wiped out from coastal Andhra if it supports the bifurcation of the state. (INN)
