Lagadapati, who had arrived in Hyderabad to begin a fast-unto-death to challenge the AP government to move a resolution in the Assembly for a separate Telangana state, was arrested this morning at the Shamshabad airport. He was being hauled to what was first an undisclosed location, but it was clear later that he is at the Pahadi Sheriff police station.
IG Anuradha had said yesterday that the politician had no permission to conduct a hunger strike. It is being speculated that Lagadapati will be taken to Vijayawada, his constituency.
The airport was packed with Lagadapati’s supporters before he flew in from Delhi, and MLAs and the deputy mayor had already set up camp (incognito) there since last night.
