L B Nagar MLA Sudhir Reddy, of the TRS, and his family members tested positive for the coronavirus, according to reports.
Reddy's wife, two sons and a cook reportedly tested positive.
Reddy is the latest in a long list of TRS leaders and other politicians who are getting infected by the coronavirus.
The MLA has been active in development programs for quite some time in the L B Nagar constituency, and it is no surprise that he has contracted the highly contagious virus.
Doctors conducted tests on him upon his showing some symptoms, and found him infected. They then immediately conducted similar tests on his family members, drivers, gunmen and staff. Multiple persons among them tested postive, and the doctors suggested home isolation for them.
Reddy and his family members are now under monitoring by doctors, and are likely to recover soon.
Meanwhile, the state is witnessing a steep rise in Covid-19 cases due mainly to the reverse migration of people from Hyderabad to districts and villages. The total positive cases have reached 77,513, and the deaths have touched 615. 54,330 persons have recovered, and the active cases are therefore 22,568.
