BRS leaders led by its working president K T Rama Rao today visited the Medigadda and Annaram barrages, which were constructed as part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), in Telangana.
BRS MLAs, MPs, MLCs and other senior leaders left in buses from the Telangana Bhavan premises in Hyderabad and reached the Medigadda barrage at around noon.
A team of retired engineers also visited the barrages along with the BRS leaders.
They examined the structure of the barrage where some piers sunk last year, and took stock of the situation.
Later, they also inspected the seepage of water at the Annaram barrage, and made a PowerPoint presentation on the Kaleshwaram project.
Speaking on the occasion, K T Rama Rao said that his party had taken up the Chalo Medigadda program to explain to the people the Goebbels' campaign going on against the Kaleshwaram project.
"Today's visit is only the first step in unveiling the full picture of the Kaleshwaram project and telling the real truth to the people," KTR said.
He further said that they would visit all the remaining sub-projects of Kaleshwaram, its reservoirs and its canals, and would explain to the people the importance of the project.
"The Medigadda barrage has been constructed as part of the world's biggest lift irrigation project, Kaleshwaram. But the Congress government is undertaking a vicious campaign by exaggerating the problem of the three piers that have developed cracks, and putting farmers' livelihoods and lives at risk," KTR said.
