BRS working president K T Rama Rao today announced that his party would hold a Chalo Medigadda program on March 1.
Speaking at a media conference at Telangana Bhavan, he said that the program would be held with 150 to 200 BRS representatives, and that it would be organized from Telangana Bhavan.
"As part of the program, we will go to Kaleshwaram on the first day. Through this program, we will show the comprehensive nature of the Kaleshwaram project to the people of Telangana as well as to those who are making allegations," he said.
KTR said that he was going to Medigadda to tell people the truth. "We will visit the Kaleshwaram project in a comprehensive and phased manner. What is Kaleshwaram will be shown live. In addition, we are going to Medigadda to show the real facts," he said.
Elaborating on the project, he said, "Those who are familiar with Telangana's topography will know. Telangana is almost like a hut. There is higher plateau in the middle, the Godavari flows on one side and the Krishna on another side. 535 metres on top is a city like Hyderabad. The Kondapochamma Sagar area is 618 metres high. Kaleshwaram is a massive project to take the Godavari river upwards from a height of 88 metres to a height of 618 metres above sea level. Kaleshwaram is not the Medigadda barrage alone, but three barrages. It is 15 reservoirs, 21 pump houses, 203 km of tunnels and 1,531 km of flow canals. It has a storage capacity of 141 TMCs. The Kaleshwaram project is a comprehensive combination of all these."
KTR added that the Rs 3,000-crore Medigadda barrage had 84 pillars in it, and that even though just three pillars met with an accident, an attempt was being made to portray things as if the entire barrage had been washed away.
