Taking strong objection to the union government's decision to scrap the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) project for Hyderabad, Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao alleged that the Centre was indulging in cheap politics, and that the ITIR project was cancelled only because the TRS government was opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies.
Responding to the news of Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar announcing in Parliament that the project was scrapped, KTR said that the ITIR project for Hyderabad was confirmed in Parliament on several occasions, and that it was in the BJP's DNA to easily lie about anything, and to deceive the people of Telangana.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had proved to be a curse for Telangana, and had exposed his true colours once again by cheating the people of the State, KTR said.
"Telangana's IT sector has lost a great opportunity to grow further due to the scrapping of the ITIR project," KTR lamented.
The minister said that it was to the credit of Telangana's government that though there was no contribution from the union government in the growth of the IT sector in Hyderabad, the State's IT sector had registered a higher growth rate than India's overall IT growth rate.
