Extending support to the statement of Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy who had said that the TRS was ready to withdraw from the Munugodu by-election fray if the Centre sanctioned Rs. 18,000 crore for the development of Nalgonda district, TRS working president K T Rama Rao said that his party would happily welcome it if the Centre took such a decision for the welfare of people.
Addressing a meeting of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi Vibhagam (TRSV) at Telangana Bhavan, the TRS working president said, "We have a strength of 105 members in the State Assembly. It doesn't matter if we lose one seat if the Centre promises to give Rs 18,000 crore, an amount equivalent to the reported contract work given to Komatireddy Rajagopal."
Stating that Nalgonda district was neglected in combined Andhra Pradesh, and that the district's people had suffered from the flouride issue for decades, KTR said that the TRS government had started supplying drinking water to all households under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme after the formation of Telangana state, and had eradicated the flouride issue successfully in the district.
The State government was now also setting up a Skill Development Centre (SDC) at Dandumalkapur village, abutting the National Highway 65 on the Vijayawada route, in about 580 acres of land which came under the Munugodu Assembly constituency, KTR claimed. The SDC was being developed at the Telangana Industrialists Federation MSME Green Industrial Park, he said, and added that once the proposed park was completed, it would offer employment to thousands of local youth.
