Areas around the Uppal Crossroads near Survey of India Junction were inundated after a lorry damaged a pipeline supplying water to Moula Ali and Tarnaka areas from the river Krishna.
According to HMWSSB officials, the pipeline carries around 33 million gallons of water for the needs of people of Moula Ali and Tarnaka. It was damaged when the driver of a water tanker lost control over his vehicle and rammed it into the pipeline on Wednesday.
The water gushed onto the roads, and has inundated the surrounding areas, to the extent that it has entered some houses.
HMWSSB officials rushed to the spot, to take up repair works. According to them, repair works will take at least 3-4 hours, but they have assured that the main pipeline was intact.
