The Hyderabad High Court today served notices to the Telangana Assembly Secretary and Law Secretary in connection with the contempt of court petition filed by Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and S A Sampath Kumar.
The court asked the Assembly Secretary and the Law Secretary to submit a counter in this regard on or before July 13.
The court then adjourned the case to July 13.
For the uninitiated, Komatireddy and Sampath Kumar approached the court challenging their
expulsion from the Assembly, and the court, after a trial,
directed the state government to restore their memberships. 12 TRS MLAs then approached the court challenging the verdict. A division bench of the court then
upheld the single bench verdict and dismissed the TRS MLAs' petition.
The expelled MLAs then
met the Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary asking him to restore their memberships, and warned that they would file a contempt of court petition otherwise. Chary effectively told them to whatever, and the MLAs then
filed the contempt petition.
