It is the season of peaceful agitations, and even the Telangana Joint Action Committee is going the Anna Hazare way.
Taking cue from the 87-year-old Gandhian, T-JAC chief Prof. M Kodandaram on Monday announced that he will stage a hunger fast in order to pressurize the government on statehood for Telangana.
Talking to the media at the JAC office in Hyderabad, Kodandaram said that "they (the JAC) had waited enough on the issue of bifurcation of the state".
Ridiculing Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu's call to defer the general strike slated to commence on 6 September because of Sonia Gandhi's health condition, he said there was no question of postponing the strike.
He said the Centre should create a Telangana state by the end of this year.
He also pointed out that the T-JAC would chalk-out a viable and more vibrant plan of action in due course. (INN)
