Governor E S L Narasimhan on Monday stated that the government led by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is not in a minority.
The Governor made this statement after discussing the political situation in the state with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi.
This statement assumes importance in the wake of media reports that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government fell into a minority with
Sunday's resignation of 3 MLAs from the Congress.
Narasimhan said that there is no need for Kiran Kumar Reddy to prove his party's majority in the Assembly as Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar is yet to take a decision on the resignations.
The Governor also said that he believes that the KKR government has enough strength to prove its majority in the House.
The Governor said that he has not submitted any report to the Union Home Minister over the situation in Telangana. He said the law and order situation in the state, particularly in Telangana region, is "under complete control".
Responding to a question on the displacement of villagers due to the construction of the Polavaram irrigation project on the river Godavari, the Governor said that he would look into the issue and take a decision after consulting experts. (INN)
