Union Minister for Tourism & Culture G Kishan Reddy today said that significant progress was being made in the railway facilities in Telangana.
He said that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took over power at the Centre, the creation of railway infrastructure in Telangana had been progressing at a rapid pace. Most recently, Modi had visited the State on April 8 and dedicated the 85-km-long electrified doubling rail project between Secunderabad and Mahabubnagar constructed at a cost of Rs 1,410 crore, Reddy said.
He said that in this context he had written a letter to Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw seeking stoppage of the Yeshwantpur - Hazrat Nizamuddin Sampark Kranti Express (train no 12649/12650) at the Mahabubnagar railway station.
The train departed from Kachiguda and reached Kurnool with no stop anywhere along the 200 km stretch, he said. He therefore asked the Railways Minister to add a stop for the train at the Mahabubnagar railway station which the train passed along the way, he said.
Reddy said that if that happened people from the area who travelled to far-flung places like Delhi and Bangalore would be freed from the burden of coming to Hyderabad to catch their trains.
Reddy said that he had also urged the Railways Minister to stop the Chengalpattu-Kacheguda Express (train no 17651/17652) at the Shadnagar railway station as it would be convenient for the people in the suburban areas of Hyderabad, especially those from Thimmapur, Kotturu, Burgula and other areas.
