On the occasion of the hundredth birth anniversary of former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, many prominent leaders in Telangana today paid their tributes to Rao.
Paying his respects to PVNR, Union Minister for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy said that the leader had served the country in various posts and capacities, including the post of PM, in a selfless manner, and that he had always worked towards the uplift of the downtrodden.
Reddy also praised the former PM's "radical policy-making" after paying floral tributes to him at P V Ghat.
Targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, he alleged that Gandhi had not paid any tributes to the former PM despite being active on popular social media platform Twitter.
The BJP bigwig claimed that the Gandhi family had had no time to pay tributes to Narasimha Rao who had remained loyal to the family till his last breath. He alleged that the family had insulted the leader in many ways and that the Congress leadership was slowly becoming like MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, dismissive of great leaders.
TPCC former working president Ponnam Prabhakar also recalled his association with the former PM fondly. He said that he was proud of the fact that he, like PVNR, also hailed from Karimnagar district.
"I am extremely fortunate as I was able to take the blessings of PV on many occasions when I was younger. I met him several times. All the decisions taken by him were taken with the objective of benefitting the future generations of the country. PV will always be remembered as one of the greatest leaders of India," Prabhakar added.
Former TPCC head N Uttam Kumar Reddy too paid rich tributes to the former PM and lauded his service to India and her people.
