Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has expressed confidence that the employees' strike which entered the third day on Saturday would be resolved in a day or two.
A Group of Ministers comprising of Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy, Home Minister P Sabitha Reddy, Higher Education Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy has been engaged in resolving the issue, and efforts were on to dissuade the agitating employees and their leaders to call off their agitation and resume their duties.
The Chief Minister was confident that the strike, called by the Joint Action Committee Of Employees, Teachers, Workers and Pensioners, would end very soon.
The Chief Minister, who is camping in New Delhi, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other central ministers to seek a special package for poor farmers in Andhra Pradesh who suffered losses due to natural calamities, and to ask the centre to identify the 7 Naxal-infested areas for development among others.
One of the main points on his agenda was to discuss the pending irrigation projects, and for expediting sanction from the forest and environmental ministries.
Over his plea for securing national status for Polavaram, Pranahitha-Chevella projects among others, the Prime Minister is believed to have asked for a full status report on the projects for examining the issue.
Kiran Kumar Reddy clarified that the party and the central government would take an appropriate decision at an appropriate time on the bifurcation of the state.
Asked about the meeting of party MPs and others with their party president, he asserted that there was nothing wrong in it as Sonia Gandhi was their national leader.
