Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, on Thursday, denied having information that several people from the state were languishing in jails in Gulf countries due to loss of passports.
In a reply to a query raised by MLAs L Ramana and others during Question Hour, the Chief Minister said that on receipt of information of a person's detention for non-possession of passport, the matter will be taken up with the respective Indian Consulate, for issue of a new passport to the person after due verification.
Persons jailed for overstaying the Visa period, will be issued a temporary passport by the respective Indian Consulate and action will be taken for deporting them by paying the penalty, if necessary, he said. (INN)
