Director General of Police K Aravinda Rao has ordered a probe into the
death of 2 students due to the misfiring of a gun at an arms exhibition in Khammam on Wednesday.
Addressing media persons at a crowded press conference, Aravinda Rao denied any malicious intent behind the incident, and called it an accident. He also assured that departmental action will be taken against the constable, Srinivas, who was responsible for the incident.
Aravinda Rao also revealed that a criminal case will be booked against the constable.
The DGP informed that higher officials will not be made responsible for the incident because they had not passed any orders to display arms with live rounds.
The exhibition was held just to educate students about the duties of the police department and how the department works to protect law and order, he said.
