Protests demanding party tickets for contesting the upcoming elections are not staying confined only to the Opposition parties - many ruling party activists are also flooding the streets demanding that the party allot tickets to their leaders.
Telangana Bhavan, the TRS headquarters, today witnessed protests by the mother of Telangana martyr Srikanth Chary, Shankaramma, as also the followers of Manne Govardhan Reddy. Shankaramma threatened to commit suicide if the TRS boss failed to give her the Huzurabad ticket for the December Assembly elections. She alleged that caretaker minister G Jagadish Reddy was forcing the TRS to give the ticket to Saidi Reddy, an NRI. "If the ticket is given to Saidi Reddy I will commit suicide at the Telangana Talli statue," she warned.
The followers of Govardhan Reddy staged a protest seeking the Khairatabad ticket for their leader and opposed giving the same to Danam Nagender. Squatting on the road in front of Telangana Bhavan, they shouted slogans for Reddy and against Nagender, who they branded a Telangana traitor. They recalled that Nagender had made serious allegations against KCR some time ago, and said that giving a ticket to him would be injustice to the Khairatabad constituency.
Three TRS leaders are keen on contesting from Khairatabad - newly joined Danam Nagender, Manne Govardhan Reddy and late P Janaradhan Reddy's daughter Vijaya Reddy. It is reported that the Chief Minister is showing interest in allotting the ticket to Nagender.
