Governor E S L Narasimhan on Tuesday directed senior officials to personally monitor the progress of the work related to the allotment and upkeep of the chambers meant for the elected governments of the 2 new states to be formed on June 2.
He also instructed the Legislative Secretary Dr S Raja Sadaram to take appropriate steps to complete the civil works on the Legislative Assembly and Council halls before, and keep them ready by, May 20, at the latest.
At a high-level meeting held at Sudharma block, Raj Bhavan, here on Tuesday, the officials presented the physical assets (buildings) allocation, the space allocation for the different departments in the Secretariat, and the reorganization of the Police buildings, in the wake of the AP Reorganization Act 2014 coming into force on June 2.
Earlier, the Governor accepted all the proposals made by the different committees constituted in the wake of AP Reorganization Act 2014, and asked the Chief Secretary to submit them to the Centre.
The Governor advised the Chief Secretary and other senior officials to prepare a list of issues to be presented before the Union Home Secretary who is likely to visit Hyderabad in the 2nd week of May.
Pradeep Chandra, Special Chief Secretary, presented a report on the measures to be adopted for the progress and development of the successor States under Schedule XIII and Section 93.
Schedule XIII has details on the education and infrastructure proposals, and 12 new infrastructure projects.
Sambob, Personnel Secretary, briefed the Governor on the allotment of buildings at the Secretariat, and said that minimum dislocation from the existing premises was targeted in the allotment of buildings to the various heads of department in the Secretariat.
The committee had interacted with all HoDs in apportioning the office space, he narrated. There are 179 departments located in Hyderabad, he said.
He has informed that the A, B, C and D blocks in the Secretariat would be allotted to the Telangana State, and the H, K and L blocks to the residuary AP State.
After examining various alternatives, the security wing proposed Lake View Guest House as the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's camp office.
Similarly, the Committee proposed using Jubilee Hall to convene the first session of the Legislative Council of Andhra Pradesh.
All civil works taken up in the Secretariat and the Legislative Assembly were in progress, and the works would be completed before the schedule date, he said.
Nagi Reddy, Prl Secretary, presented the Contracts Committee's recommendations. He said that the database of all existing contracts could be best used by both the successor States by developing an online system to monitor the physical and financial progress on a monthly basis, and linking it to the bills management system.
The Resident Commissioner, Andhra Bhavan, New Delhi, submitted the proposals for allotment of existing rooms as per guidelines to the new States.
