Several members of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's family today visited the Sri Jogulamba Bala Brahmeshwaraswamy Group temple at Alampur, in Gadwal district, to offer their prayers.
The officials and temple pujaris gave the CM's family a warm traditional welcome.
Rao's wife Shobha, daughter MLC K Kavitha, and daughter-in-law Shailima participated in the annual Brahmotsavam ceremony conducted in honour of the goddess Sri Jogulamba.
The district officials made arrangements for the security of the family before their visit.
Minister S Niranjan Reddy, MP Pothuganti Ramulu, and MLAs Abraham and Venkateshwar Reddy were also present on the occasion.
While travelling to the temple, MLC Kavitha reportedly stopped at the urban nature park at Kothakota in Vanaparthi to participate in a plantation program, alongside local MLA Venkateshwar Reddy. Several other local TRS and Telangana Jagriti leaders were also present at the program.
Alampur, referred to by many as the Kashi of the South, is set to get a facelift as the union government recently sanctioned funds worth Rs 36.73 crore for the development of the Jogulamba Temple under its Pilgrimage Rejuvenation Advancement Drive, and for the development of the temple town as a popular tourist destination. The temple's premises will reportedly be equipped with a host of modern amenities, including parking facilities, CCTV cameras and lighting systems, soon.
