Senior Congress leader and former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir today accused Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of making false promises to the unemployed youth of the state to appease them ahead of the upcoming municipal elections in Khammam and Warangal, the by-election in Nagarjuna Sagar, and the MLC elections for two graduates constituencies.
Following the CM's
press release regarding the filling of 50,000 job vacancies in various government departments, Shabbir told the media that the CM had made the statement purely to mislead the unemployed youth awaiting recruitment opportunities.
He alleged that this was not the first time that the ruling party had made empty promises to the youth, and that the CM had released an inaccurate statement to cover up his government's past failures.
"The TRS came to power in 2014 by promising the people of the state that it would generate employment for one lakh people. More than one lakh vacancies existed at the time of the formation of Telangana in June 2014, and department-wise vacancy figures were disclosed by KCR himself in the Legislative Assembly. Despite this, the ruling party has not fulfilled its promise even after seven years in power. Today, the CM is pretending that he was unaware of the job vacancies till now. Further, in his statement, he has not even revealed the correct number of openings. More than one lakh employees have retired in the last seven years; and thousands of new vacancies have emerged due to the creation of new districts. All this has created more than two lakh vacancies in various government departments. The CM could have easily gotten these figures from the Chief Secretary or even the relevant Principal Secretaries. However, instead of making that effort, he has issued a hasty statement only to create a false impression that he is serious about providing the unemployed with jobs," the Congress leader said.
Citing the TSPSC's recently compiled Annual State Report, he added that the TRS government's failures would be exposed if the report was released in the public domain.
"TSPSC members including Chairman Ghanta Chakrapani called on Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at the Raj Bhavan on December 10 and released the Annual State Report. The report should be made available to the public. It will expose the TRS government's consistent failure to fulfil its promises, including its 2014 promise of providing one lakh jobs, even after two terms," Shabbir Ali claimed.
The former minister also lashed out at the CM for the delays in the commencement of the registration of non-agricultural properties in the state.
"Why is KCR forming a cabinet sub-committee to frame guidelines for the registration process only now when the registrations were suspended for nearly three months? The sub-committee could have easily been formed in that time. Besides, the suspension was entirely unnecessary. The government could have transitioned to using a new system for the registrations without stopping the process altogether. This negligence crushed the entire real estate market of Hyderabad, and damaged the state's economy massively," he claimed.
