Congress Slams KCR For Not Including Muslim In New TSPSC

The party said that it was highly unfortunate that KCR could not find a single person in the entire Muslim community qualified to be a TSPSC member.
Hyderabad | 20th May 2021
Former minister and senior Telangana Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir strongly condemned the non-inclusion of any Muslim members in the newly constituted Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC).

"Muslims constitute nearly 14-15% of the total population in Telangana. Almost 90% of Muslim youth are jobless, and aspire to get recruited in various appointments to be made by the state government. Currently, almost 80% of Muslims are covered under the BC-E category, and they are entitled to a 4% quota in all recruitments. Therefore, the presence of a Muslim member in the TSPSC was essential to ensure proper implementation of the present 4% Muslim quota, introduced by the previous Congress government in 2004. However, CM KCR apparently wants to stop the ongoing 4% Muslim quota in government jobs. As a prelude, he did not appoint any Muslim member in the TSPSC," Shabbir Ali alleged.

Shabbir Ali pointed out that KCR had promised to provide a 12% quota in jobs and education to the Muslims of Telangana within four months of coming to power in 2014. However, even after seven-and-a-half years, this promise remained unfulfilled.

"On the one hand KCR is trying to portray himself as a secular leader by making fake claims about the minorities' welfare. On the other, he is doing everything possible to implement the hidden agenda of the RSS and please the BJP government at the Centre headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. More than half of the professional colleges and other institutions of higher education for minorities in Telangana have been shut down after the TRS came to power in 2014. The damage was caused in a systematic manner, and Muslim youth have been deprived of higher education," he claimed.

Stating that there was a Muslim member in the previous TSPSC constituted in 2014, he alleged that this time KCR avoided a Muslim to please the BJP. "It is highly unfortunate that KCR could not find a single person in the entire Muslim community, including from among the TRS leaders, who qualifies to serve as a TSPSC member. KCR is not only implementing the BJP schemes like Aayushman Bharat in Telangana, but also pushing the hidden anti-minority agenda of RSS," he claimed, adding that the Muslims still loyal to the TRS must realise that its leader was now openly targeting the minority community.

Conceding however that newly appointed TSPSC Chairman Dr B Janardhan Reddy was both efficient and experienced, he expressed hope that under his leadership the Commission would function in a transparent manner.

"There are more than 1.90 lakh vacancies in various departments of the state government. KCR has promised to fill 50,000 vacancies in the next few months. Since the new Commission has been appointed, the state government should now announce a schedule, along with a deadline, for the 50,000 vacancies to be filled. Further, KCR should also give a deadline by which he plans to fill the remaining 1.40 lakh vacancies," Shabbir Ali demanded.

He also said that there were nearly 30 lakh jobless youth in Telangana including nearly 19 lakh qualified graduates who had registered themselves with the TSPSC, and demanded that the TRS government announce its plan to provide employment to the remaining 28 lakh jobless youth in the state. Till then, KCR should provide an unemployment allowance of Rs 3,016 per month to all the jobless youth as promised in the TRS manifesto the for 2018 elections, he said.
