Former chief minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao took oath as an MLA today.
Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar administered the oath of office and secrecy to KCR.
KCR, who reached the Assembly earlier in the day, got out of the car and walked confidently to his chamber (the ex-CM had a hip replacement surgery about eight weeks back). He was accompanied by BRS leaders Harish Rao, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Madhusudhana Chary, Malla Reddy, and several party MLAs and former MLAs.
After offering special pujas in his chamber, KCR went to the Speaker's office and took oath as an MLA.
For the unversed, a Congress government was formed after the November Assembly elections. Soon after that, KCR's hip was injured in an accident and he had a hip replacement surgery, and did not take the oath of office as an MLA as doctors reportedly advised him rest for six to eight weeks. He has reportedly been resting at his Gajwel farmhouse for two months. He is now walking slowly under the supervision of doctors with the help of a stick.
KCR was first elected as an MLA in 1985, and continued to be either an MLA or an MP almost all along till now. He was the CM of Telangana from June 2014 to December 2023.
