TRS leader K Chandrasekhara Rao, fresh from a seemingly successful fast that had the Union government buckle and offer statehood for Telangana, demanded that the government suppress the Seema and Andhra agitations for a united state.
After his bloodbath threat yesterday, he said today that he was ready to die for the cause of Telangana. The TRS politburo met today, and while KCR’s proposed bus tour was postponed, a victory rally will be held on the 24th. The TDP, in an unusual dichotomy, had a bus tour of its Telangana leaders of the Telangana region supporting separate statehood for the region, while it also had a bus tour of its Seemandhra leaders supporting Samaikyandhra.
Meanwhile, in a meeting organized by a TV channel of senior leaders of the Telangana and Ralayaseema/Andhra regions, Congress Telangana MP Madhu Yashki said that it’s best for the people to separate after all this acrimony.
He said that the 2 main issues now were the status of Hyderabad and of the river waters flowing in through the Telangana region into Andhra. He gave the example of Bombay continuing to be the capital of Maharashtra after Gujarat split from Maharashtra, and also said that Hyderabad is a microcosm of India itself, and there would be no trouble from Telangana to people of Andhra and Rayalaseema lineage.
