Telangana IT and Panchayat Raj Minister K Taraka Rama Rao today lashed out at the Opposition parties for stalling the Assembly proceedings during the Question Hour.
Addressing the media at the TRS Legislature Party office, the minister accused the Opposition parties of indulging in cheap politics.
He said that Chief Minister KCR had displayed restraint on Wednesday despite all the provocation, and abstained from "skinning" the Opposition leaders on their misrule.
KTR pointed out that the Opposition got 6.23 hours to speak on the farmers' suicides issue while the ruling Party, including Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, spoke for just 1.50 hours. The ruling Party had drawn out long-term and short-term plans to overcome the problem, he said.
"Despite our promise to take steps to waive off the crop loans, the Opposition is playing spoilsport," he alleged.
He alleged that BJP leaders like Dr K Lakshman and G Kishen Reddy had failed to get funds from the Centre to Telangana while Andhra Pradesh was getting huge funds.
"The BJP can impress upon the NDA government to release funds to the State. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should provide succour to the families of those who committed suicides. We have listed our programs and schemes of 15 months in the House," he said.
"The misery that accumulated in 60 years of the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party rule will not go away in 15 months," he added.
The 15-month-old TRS government did get something done in the power and irrigation sectors, he claimed. These problems however needed some more time to solve, and the government was prepared to address all the issues.
"We have addressed the power problem, and will supply 9-hour power till next April. We have stopped power-cuts and rising bills," he pointed out.
He added that steps were also being taken to complete the Water Grid project, de-silt 7,000 lakes under Mission Kakatiya and speedily complete irrigation projects.
