BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday announced that the charges for fitness certificates and other documents related to autos would be waived off after the BRS "returned to power".
Addressing a Praja Aashirwada Sabha at the Manakonduru Assembly constituency in Karimnagar district, the CM said that the auto drivers were leading lives with meagre incomes, and in addition to that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had increased the price of diesel tremendously, compounding the problem for them.
"All the State governments across the country are collecting different taxes from auto drivers, but the BRS government has abolished all taxes for them, and right now not a single rupee is being collected from auto drivers. Despite this, the fitness certification needs to be done every year, and auto drivers will have to pay Rs 700 for the certificate. In addition, they will have to pay another Rs 500 for the charges to get the certificate, and thus the total amount will be Rs 1,200. This time, if the BRS comes to power, the fitness tax will be abolished, and all other charges will be waived off for auto drivers," KCR announced.
The Chief Minister claimed the BRS government was doing everything for all the people with low incomes, and reiterated that it would continue to work to develop all sections of the people.
