Reiterating his firm determination to complete the flagship programs of Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha in quick time, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today stated that a perfect plan of action was being implemented for transforming the state into a golden Telangana with a focus on welfare and ensuring the people self-respect.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion of the Telangana Formation Day at Parade Grounds after taking a salute from various security forces, KCR said that Mission Bhagiratha would provide safe drinking water to 6,100 villages by December, and that 90% of works under it would be completed by next year.
The lake revival program Mission Kakatiya would help boost rural farming and improve living standards, he claimed.
He accused the previous governments of destroying the lakes in Telangana and allow encroachments, depriving the people of waters for farm activities.
KCR also said that one crore acres in Telangana would be brought under irrigation by 2022.
He said that the TRS government would make use of every drop of water from the Krishna and Godavari rivers despite the hurdles being created by the Andhra Pradesh government.
"Though the Maharashtra and Karnataka governments have been cooperating with Telangana's irrigation projects, my Andhra Pradesh counterpart Chandrababu Naidu is trying to stall the projects. But my government is committed to completing Palamur, Dindi, Ranga Reddy and other projects as per schedule," he stressed.
He asked Naidu to avoid creating friction between the people of the two Telugu States with regard to using waters for irrigation, for his own selfish ends. Telangana and AP could together get 4,200 TMC of waters for agricultural activities, and 4,200 TMC of waters could help irrigate four crore acres of land, he mentioned. He asserted that his State wanted cordial relations with its neighbours on river water sharing.
The number of districts in Telangana would be increased to 24 or 25 by Dasara, he said. The increase in districts would enhance administrative ease and smooth governance, he stated. The number of mandals would also be increased as part of delimitation, he added.
The KG-to-PG scheme would be launched from this academic year itself through 250 residential schools being set up across the State, KCR promised.
He also reiterated that journalists in Hyderabad would soon get housing facilities. The government had already identified the land for the purpose, and separate colonies would be built in the near future, he said. Journalists would get housing in the city first and then in the districts, he mentioned.
On industrialization, KCR said that as many as 1,798 companies and industrial units had come forward to invest Rs 24,698 crores, which would result in the creation of 1.14 lakh jobs.
Earlier, KCR unfurled a mammoth national flag on the country's second tallest flag post, at a height of 290 feet, at Sanjeevaiah Park. The flag can be viewed from upto 20 km away in any direction. The flag post was originally to be 303 feet high, but was reduced to 290 feet at the aviation department's suggestion. The flag measured 108 feet in width and 72 feet in height. The tower has been erected on a 30x30 feet base.
Later KCR also laid the foundation for the Amaraveerula Vanam at Lumbini Park.
