Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao projected his 'Muslim-friendly' face on his tour of Ghousenagar, Bandlaguda mandal, on Wednesday.
With an eye on the forthcoming by-elections to 10 assembly seats in Telangana districts, which have a sizeable Muslim voter presence, the TRS chief claimed that he is fighting to get back properties belonging to the Muslim Wakf Board.
He said that properties that belong to Muslims are estimated to be valued around Rs. 4.5 lakh crore, and that the TRS will fight to remove the encroachments on them.
KCR mentioned a large portion of land near Hi-Tech city, which is in the name of Gurukul Trust, which he said belongs to the Muslim Wakf Board and was handed over to the Trust by unscrupulous politicians.
Addressing the people of Ghousenagar whose
houses were demolished by Revenue Department officials, KCR said that he will fight for them, and said that those who were left homeless that day are welcome to come and live in the Telangana Bhavan till their houses are reconstructed.
KCR also handed Rs. 5,000 to each of the 23 persons whose houses were demolished .
The people of Ghousenagar told the TRS chief that they prefer to stay on the land and refused to come and live in the opulence of TRS Bhavan.
KCR then said that it is the government which is responsible for the demolitions. He said that residents had been living on the land since the last 15 years and had been regular in paying electricity and water bills as well as municipal taxes.
The TRS chief promised that he would talk to Chief Minister K Rosaiah about the issue during his next meeting.
He also said that he is responsible for performing the marriages of the girls left homeless during the demolition.
