KCR Orders CID Probe Into Srisailam Power Plant Fire

The Telangana CM has ordered a CID inquiry into the fire that took place in the Srisailam power plant in Domalapenta of Amrabad mandal in Nagarkurnool district.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has ordered a CID inquiry into the fire that took place in the Srisailam power plant unit in Domalapenta of Amrabad mandal in Nagarkurnool district.

He said that the reasons behind the accident should be brought to light so as to avoid a repeat.

As per the directions of the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar has appointed CID Additional DGP Govind Singh as the inquiry officer into the accident.

The Additional DGP has been asked to probe the matter and submit a report to the government.

The Chief Minister expressed deep shock over the accident in which the nine people who were trapped inside the plant died despite all the efforts to save them.

Describing the accident as most tragic, the CM conveyed his condolences to the members of the bereaved families. He also said that he was praying that those who were critically injured in the accident should recover, and instructed the officials concerned to provide high quality medical treatment to the injured, at the government's expense.

The CM is also regularly speaking to Minister Jagadish Reddy and TS Transco Genco CMD D Prabhakar Rao who are at the plant, and is reviewing the situation regularly.
