KCR Again Urges Renaming DRDO After Abdul Kalam
The monsoon session of the Telangana Assembly offered rich tributes today to former President A P J Abdul Kalam and sitting Congress MLA P Kishta Reddy.

The monsoon session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly which commenced on Wednesday offered rich tributes to former President A P J Abdul Kalam and sitting Congress MLA P Kishta Reddy on their demises.
Soon after the House assembled, Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary took up two separate condolence motions for paying tributes to the departed leaders.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao moved the condolence motions in the Assembly, and his deputy Kadiam Srihari moved the resolution condoling the demise of Abdul Kalam in the Council.
KCR paid rich tributes to the former President and noted missile man Kalam. He also once again requested the Centre that the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) in Hyderabad be named after Kalam in recognition of the latter's yeomen services to the nation in the defence sector and space research.
The Centre needed to take a call on this, he said, adding that he had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the same.
Kalam had a great bond with and affinity for Hyderabad during his stint as the DRDO Chief, and was a source of inspiration to all, the CM stated. The youth needed to emulate him, he said.
Finance Minister E Rajender, Congress leader K Jana Reddy, TDP leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao, BJP Floor leader Dr K Lakshman, MIM leader Pasha Quadri and others paid tributes to Kalam, too.
The Houses both adjourned to meet again on September 29, after observing two minutes' silence as a mark of respect to the departed leaders.
