Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital and urged him to impose a moratorium on Central taxes from the State besides pumping in adequate number of the new Rs. 500 notes as well as the Rs. 100, Rs. 50 and Rs. 20 currency notes into banks and ATMs in Telangana and the rest of India.
During the hour-long meeting with Modi, KCR apprised him of the financial implications on State businesses and the treasury, and urged to allow villages in Telangana to use the old bills to avoid causing inconvenience to farmers and other people. He is learnt to have also urged the Prime Minister to give a tax exemption to women who had saved above Rs. 2.50 lakhs, and ensure that the common man did not face any further hardships.
KCR also urged the Prime Minister to direct private hospitals to accept the old notes as there have been deaths due to some hospitals not treating patients due to the invalidity of the two old bills.
Demonetization has had adverse impact on various markets, small businesses, hospitals, small time vendors, stationary and other businesses, KCR told Modi.
