Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao today said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was likely to introduce a monthly allowance for the unemployed persons in the state soon.
Speaking at a program at the Telangana Bhavan, along with Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy and other leaders of the TRS, he said, "The state of Telangana may soon introduce an unemployment allowance for the benefit of those without jobs."
"The Chief Minister's monthly relief package for the unemployed youth of Telangana will be worth at least Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,500. It may even go up to Rs 3,000. This shows the government's commitment to the people of the state," he added.
Referring to the TRS government's ongoing tussle with the government employees of the state over the issue of the implementation of the PRC, KTR said that the government would address the unemployment issue as well as the problems of all the government employees as well.
He also spoke about the filling of government vacancies in the state.
"We have already filled up 1.31 lakh vacant job posts in the state, and have created many employment opportunities for the people in our six-and-a-half years in power. Another
50,000 posts in various government departments will also be filled soon. Steps to ensure the same are already being taken - we have issued notifications for the same as well. Ours is a state that is committed to the welfare of the people. No other state governments implement welfare schemes as comprehensive as ours. Even our Mission Bhagiratha model has become an inspiration that is being emulated across the nation," Rao said.
The minister's claims, made ahead of the upcoming Nagarjuna Sagar by-election and the graduates' constituencies MLC elections in the state, are likely to be seen by many as attempts to win over voters.
The announcements may also have been made to salvage the government's reputation, which has taken a beating amidst the
rising protests against its "failure" to implement a "pro-employees" PRC.
