As part of his efforts to expand his party's footprint in the neighbouring State, BRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday left for Solapur in Maharashtra.
Accompanied by ministers, MLAs, MLCs, MPs and other party leaders in a huge convoy of about 600 vehicles, including two buses, the Chief Minister departed Pragathi Bhavan at around 10.30 AM by road.
BRS activists were seen standing on both sides of the road and welcoming the Chief Minister's convoy by sprinkling flowers and waving party flags.
En route to Solapur, KCR halted at Omerga village in Dharashiv district for lunch followed by an interaction with local leaders and farmers.
The BRS chief arrived in Solapur in the evening where he received a grand welcome from party leaders from Maharashtra. Later, he visited the residence of former Congress MP Dharmanna Sadul and spent some quality time with the latter and his family members. KCR also met the handloom weavers who had migrated to Solapur for livelihoods and enquired about their problems.
On Tuesday, the Chief Minister is scheduled to visit the Lord Vithoba temple at Pandharpur and perform a special pooja at the Sri Vithal Rukmini Mandir there, and visit the Tulja Bhavani temple thereafter.
KCR will then participate in a locally arranged programme at Sarkoli, where he is also expected to interact with the locals and also induct several Maharashtra leaders who are awaiting joining the BRS.
