Winning her first Commonwealth Games women's badminton singles' gold defeating Michelle Li (Canada) in straight sets, Telugu girl P V Sindhu expectedly came in for high praise, starting right from the top leaders of the two Telugu States.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy congratulated Sindhu on winning the gold, as also Kidambi Srikanth, also a Telugu, for bagging the bronze in the men's section (Lakshya Sen of India won the gold).
The Chief Minister described their performances as inspirations to youngsters.
He also congratulated the entire Indian contingent for putting India in a place of pride in the medals tally (India finished fourth, behind Australia, England and Canada).
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao too congratulated Sindhu for winning the gold. The CM extended his best wishes to the athlete and expressed hope that she would continue to win laurels for the country.
