Five Acres Of Land For Kidambi Srikanth
AP CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy today felicitated Kidambi Srikanth for becoming the first Indian male shuttler to win a silver medal at the World Championships.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy today felicitated badminton player Kidambi Srikanth for creating history by becoming the first Indian male shuttler to win a silver medal at the World Championships, and announced a cash award of Rs 7 lakh and five acres of land at Tirupati for setting up an academy.
Srikanth, who won a silver medal in the BWF World Championships 2021 held in Spain during December 12-19, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Minister at the latter's camp office in the city. He is working as a Deputy Collector in the state government.
Speaking on the occasion, Srikanth expressed happiness at meeting the Chief Minister, and said that the CM had assured all possible help to him. He thanked the CM for the land in Tirupati, and said that he would set up a world-class badminton academy and train players into top-class performers. He also said that he would strive to win more tournaments in the future and bring even more fame to the state.
He added that AP's sportspersons were happy with the special care being taken of them by the government, and thanked the Chief Minister on their behalves.
State Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivas, Special Chief Secretary G Saiprasad, SAAP Chairman Byreddy Siddarth Reddy, SAAP MD Dr N Prabhakar Reddy, SAAP OSD Rama Krishna and Srikanth's parents Radhamukunda and K V S Krishna were also present on the occasion.
