Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today inaugurated the renovated Yadadri temple at a grand program for the occasion.
KCR attended the Maha Kumbha Samprokshana Yagam at around 11:55 am to mark the inaugural of the Sri Lakshmi Narsimha Swamy temple.
That was however only one of the many rituals that the CM, who came along with his family members including wife Shobha, MLC Kavitha, MP Santosh Kumar and grandson Himanshu, took part in in a visit that lasted almost the whole day - he took part in most of the main pujas at the temple. The Kumbhabhishekam and Samprokshana of the Sudarsana chakra on the Vimanagopuram and seven other gopurams were among the main rituals performed today - some 92 rithwiks performed the Samprokshana to Sri Sudarsana Swarna Chakra atop the Divya Vimanam, and to the Swarna Kalasams on the other six gopurams.
Earlier, amidst the chanting of Vedic hymns, a Shobhayatra of the presiding deities was taken out from the Balayalam to the sanctum sanctorum, following which a special puja was performed to the utsava deities. KCR himself carried the palanquin with the presiding deities. The Chief Minister and his wife performed the first puja to the presiding deities inside the sanctum sanctorum. KCR also performed a special puja to the golden Dhwajasthambham installed at the temple.
Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Assembly Speaker Srinivas Reddy, Ministers Harish Rao, Indrakaran Reddy, Jagadish Reddy, Srinivas Goud, Srinivas Yadav, Mahmood Ali and Dayakar Rao, MLA G Sunitha, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, YADA Chairman Kishan Rao, temple Executive Officer Geetha Reddy and others attended the event. There was tight security all around.
The Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was conspicuous by his absence (Yadagirigutta is located in the Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency). The Congress leader was surprisingly not invited.
Later KCR and ministers felicitated EO Geetha Reddy, Kishan Rao, the stapatis, sculptors and others.
The temple was opened for all the devotees from 3 pm.
It is being reported that the renovation of the prestigious temple cost Rs 2,000 crore.
Seer Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, who was actively included in the plans for the temple until a while back, was conspicuously absent at the program, with the EO herself saying that he was not invited
