Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today dedicated the Mallanna Sagar reservoir, at a program near Siddipet.
The reservoir was built under the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.
"We brought Godavari waters to cleanse the feet of Komaravelli Mallanna," he said.
He claimed that Mallanna Sagar would quench the thirst of Hyderabad and 10 districts with its overall capacity of 50 TMC water, and irrigate 20 lakh acres. He said that the capacity of 50 TMC would be completed in three phases, with officials increasing the capacity to 16 TMC in the next phase.
He also claimed that there would be no drought in the state after the completion of the reservoir and all the other irrigation projects.
The Chief Minister took serious exception to the opposition parties and some vested interests "stalling projects and growth", by "unnecessarily" moving the courts against the projects.
"Without knowledge some fools have been stalling the works of the projects and development. As many as 600 cases have been filed against the irrigation projects of the state. But the entire team including minister Harish Rao, Engineer-in-Chief Muralidhar Rao and the work force made relentless efforts for their completion," he said.
"Our aim to turn the barren lands in the state into green fields is now fulfilled - there are now a flourishing rural economy and agriculture with Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya," he added.
The Chief Minister then announced Rs 1,500 crore to complete all the other reservoirs and projects in the district and other places to push development, film shootings and tourism development.
He said that said Rs 100 crore would be spent for an irrigation complex near the site of that very reservoir, and two four-lane roads would be laid to the project site.
He asked Harish Rao and officials to visit other countries and develop the location on par with Burj Khalifa, the world-class skyscrapers in Singapore, and other buildings, with scintillating buildings and colours to attract tourism.
