Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Thursday accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of ignoring the welfare of the farmers in the State.
Speaking to media persons after paying tributes to the farmers killed in the police firing 14 years ago at Basheerbagh, Ponnala said that the Chief Minister looked more keen on foreign visits than on focusing on the welfare of farmers and other sections.
He said that KCR was treading the same path that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu did as the Chief Minister in 2000. While the TDP government had resorted to police firing on innocent farmers then, the TRS government had lathicharged protesting farmers in Medak this month.
Ponnala said that KCR should pay immediate attention to the rising numbers of farmers' suicides in the State.
He paid rich tributes to farmers Vishnuvardhan, Balakrishna and Balasubramaniam who were killed in the police firing in 2000. (INN)
