TRS Has Pushed Farmers Into Pre-2004 Era: Congress
Banks were not giving fresh loans to farmers, Ponnala Lakshmaiah of the TPCC lamented, due to KCR reneging on his promises and leading farmers to default.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Friday alleged that the TRS Government had pushed the farmers into the pre-2004 era when they were forced to commit suicide due to various reasons.
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Ponnala accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of going back on the promises that he made during the elections.
Stating that the TRS Government would need at least Rs. 5 lakh crores to fulfill all the election promises, he asked the Chief Minister to explain how he planned to mobilize funds for the same.
He alleged that instead of fulfilling the promises, KCR had started giving different twists to the issues. For example, he said, although the TRS had promised to waive off the farm loans, KCR later said that the loans would be rescheduled.
Similarly, the TRS Government completely ignored the promise of waiving off gold loans taken by farmers for agricultural purposes.
The banks were not giving fresh loans to defaulting farmers, Ponnala lamented.
The TPCC chief alleged that KCR had brought back the situation that the farmers had faced during the TDP regime. He claimed that the farmers had now started realising that they had made a mistake by not voting for the Congress Party.
The TPCC chief said that KCR too had realised that he would not be able to stay in power for long like this, and so was trying to strengthen himself by encouraging defections in other parties.
Nothing was important to KCR aside of staying in power, Ponnala stated.
Continuing to heap the vitriol, Ponnala added that while the Chief Minister was able to visit the politicians admitted in hospital, he could not take out a few minutes from his busy schedule to meet the children who were injured in the Masaipet railway accident.
Ponnala also accused the TRS of using unparliamentary language against Congress candidate Sunitha Lakshma Reddy. He said that the Congress party would lodge a complaint in this regard with the Election Commission of India. (INN)
