Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today paid rich tributes to three great martyrs of the Indian freedom movement, Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev on the occasion of their death anniversaries, which is observed as Shaheed Diwas.
"Thousands of people fought for the freedom of India in many different ways and made great sacrifices to liberate the nation from the rule of the British. On the occasion of the 75th year of our country's independence, it gives me great honour and pride to be able to celebrate the Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav. Telangana has plunged itself into the celebrations, and various programs are being organised across the state to mark the occasion. This has given us a chance to truly honour and remember the great sacrifices made by the many martyrs of the freedom struggle," the CM said.
A post paying tribute to the sacrifices of the three revolutionaries was also published on the TRS' official Twitter handle. It reads, "On #ShaheedDiwas, tributes to the great Indian freedom fighters and brave revolutionaries #Sukhdev, #Rajguru and #BhagatSingh, who made the supreme sacrifice for nation on this day (sic)."
The CM had flagged of the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrations at the Public Gardens in the state capital on March 12. Assembly speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and DGP M Mahender Reddy were all present on the occasion.
