All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi today came down heavily on the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his party for failing to fulfill the aspirations of the Telangana people for their legitimate share in funds, jobs and river waters.
Addressing a mammoth public meeting in Kosgi mandal of the Kodangal Assembly constituency today, Gandhi alleged that KCR had shattered the dreams of the people of Telangana, and asked whether the TRS deserved to come to power again.
"Do we need a government like that of KCR in the state? The annual budget of the state is Rs 2 lakh crores, and it is possible to spend Rs 2 lakh on every family in the state, but this has not happened under the TRS rule. However, the income of KCR's family certainly went up during the last four-and-a-half years,? he said amid a huge round of applause from the audience.
Gandhi also claimed that the TRS government had looted Rs 40,000 crores of public money in the name of redesigning the irrigation projects.
Alleging a covert tie-up between the TRS and the BJP, the Congress boss pointed out that that KCR had extended support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi whenever it was sought and that every bill passed by the BJP-led government at the Centre had the support of the TRS, and dubbed the TRS as the "Telangana Rastra Sanghparivar". He also questioned KCR's silence on the Rafale deal.
Speaking on the occasion, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy exuded confidence that the grand alliance would come to power in Telangana after the December 7 Assembly elections. He also promised 7 kgs of fine rice and 6 gas cylinders free of cost to all ration card holders in the state upon coming to power.
Addressing the gathering next, TPCC working president A Revanth Reddy, who is contesting from the Kodangal Assembly constituency, alleged that KCR's government had foisted several cases against him, and said that he would fight against all such cases with the help of the people of Telangana. He too reiterated that KCR had failed to fulfill even a single promise made to the people during his four-and-a-half-year rule, and that only KCR's family had benefited from the formation of separate Telangana.
Also addressing the gathering, TJS president M Kodandaram called upon the people of Telangana to send KCR back to his farmhouse at Erravalli. He said that there was an urgent need to put an end to the feudal rule of the CM and ensure the victory of the Mahakootami. He also added that the Mahakootami would reduce the prices of petrol and diesel after coming to power in the state.
