Leader Of Opposition in the Telangana Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir today accused the KCR government of once again failing the people of the state by not getting any benefits from the Centre in the 2018 Union Budget.
Reacting to the Budget presentation by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today, Shabbir Ali said that the FM had focused on granting sops only to the eight states that go to polls this year and had neglected all the promises made to Telangana during the division of the state.
He said that even after four years in power, the NDA government had not taken action on any of the various proposed projects in the state including the Bayyaram steel plant, the railway coach factory at Kazipet and the 4,000 MW power plant by NTPC, and hadn't announced Kaleshwaram as a national project.
He asked KCR why he continued to remain silent over the gross injustices being done to the state and why the TRS MPs were not raising their voices in Parliament.
Criticizing other aspects of the Budget, he said that the pro-corporate policies of the NDA government had led to a huge loss of revenue to the exchequer, as revenue amounting to Rs 7,000 crores would be lost due to the lower corporate tax rates announced for companies with a turnover of Rs 250 crores or less, while revenue of another Rs 19,000 crores had been lost in direct taxes in the last fiscal.
Shabbir Ali also alleged that instead of curbing black money and bringing hoarders to book, the NDA government had increased the tax burden on the common man, as demonetization and GST had let the big tax evaders off the hook and only brought in increased personal income tax collections.
