Congress leader and MLC T Jeevan Reddy today lashed out at the TRS-led Telangana government for allegedly "discriminating" against its own employees while simultaneously making the false claim of being an employee-friendly government.
Saying that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had got his seat because of the votes of the employees and students of the state, he asked the CM why the state government had sanctioned an interim relief of just 7%.
"Where the Congress-led state governments have given interim relief worth 27% despite the current pandemic-ravaged economy, the TRS regime has sanctioned an interim relief of just 7%. This is ridiculous," he said.
Targeting the employees' union leaders of the state, he warned them that they would never be able to achieve their demands until they stopped acting like "the stooges of the ruling party".
He also asked them to fight for the rights of the employees they had been appointed to represent.
The TRS government and the state's government employees have been caught in
a stand-off over the recommendations made by the state's Pay Revision Commission - especially the proposed wage hike. And, the Opposition has been alleging that the government has neglected the needs of the employees. Leaders like TJS chief M Kodandaram have strongly
condemned the government for its "failure" to address the employees' concerns. Bandi Sanjay Kumar of the BJP too expressed his party's solidarity with the employees recently.
