Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today extended his greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of World Water Day.
In a statement, he reminded the people of the importance of protecting natural resources not only to maintain equilibrium in nature but also for the sake of inter-generational equity.
The CM then spoke about the state government's various water-related schemes and projects, and listed out the efforts it was making to improve irrigation and drinking water facilities for the people. He also mentioned that it had been committed to reviving groundwater levels.
"The state government is implementing several schemes and projects to supply water for irrigation and for drinking. We have also been working to revive the groundwater levels. Through Mission Kakatiya and various other mega-irrigation projects like the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, we have been able to address the water shortage issues being faced by the farmers of the state. With the implementation of Mission Bhagiratha, safe and pure drinking water was made available to the households in rural Telangana through pipelines and taps. Most significantly, the program was able to eradicate the fluoride problem in Nalgonda once and for all," KCR said.
"The measures taken by our government over the past six-and-a-half years have brought in a qualitative change in the management of water resources in Telangana. It is a moment of pride for all of us that experts from all over the world as well as the Centre have appreciated the measures taken by our government in this regard," he added.
The KCR regime's attempt to alleviate water-related issues in the state has resulted in the introduction of many irrigation and drinking water programs. Just yesterday, the CM
addressed the water shortage issues being faced by the farmers of his constituency, Gajwel, and of the adjacent constituency, Dubbaka.
