Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao this evening called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and conferred with him for over a hour, and submitted memoranda on 22 issues concerning the State.
The contents of the letters which the CM discussed with PM are:
Release of Rs 450 crore as 5th instalment of assistance for backward districts in Telangana as per the State Reorganization Act Revival of the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) unit in Adilabad district with the help of the NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) Enhancement of the number of judges in the Telangana High Court from 24 to 42 Establishment of an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Telangana Sanction of an Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) for Telangana Sanction of 23 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) in the new districts Pending railway projects in Telangana: release of funds for completion and expediting the work Financial assistance to Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha as recommended by NITI Aayog (Rs 5000 crores and Rs 19205 crore respectively) Setting up of a steel plant at Bayyaram in Khammam district as promised in the Reorganisation Act Release of funds for a National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) at Zaheerabad in the Medak district Setting up of a National Institute of Design (NID) in Hyderabad (its location was shifted to Visakhapatnam after the bifurcation) Sub-categorisation of SCs in Telangana Sanction of IIIT under PPP model at Karimnagar Enhancement of reservations for BCs in employment and education (BC 37%, SC 15%, ST 10%) 33% reservation for OBCs and women in Parliament and the State legislature Development of the Hyderabad-Nagpur & Warangal-Hyderabad industrial corridors Allotment of funds under the PMGSY (Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana) for upgrading 4,000 km for better connectivity in backward regions Road works in left-wing-extremism-affected areas: GoI to bear full cost instead of only 60% Full central funding for tribal university as central university in Warangal One-time grant-in-aid of Rs 1,000 crores for the Warangal textile park Declaration of Ramappa temple as a World Heritage Site Flood flow canal - sanction of revised cost
The CM also called on Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed on various issues concerning the State.
